Dave Scoffield and Wade Plewes, owners of Georgian Shores Catering, have purchased the Island Princess with the intention of relocating the tour boat to Midland.

The double-decker riverboat-style vessel, which had been operating out of Orillia, is 66 feet long and 27 feet wide and can accommodate 200 passengers. The main deck is used for dining and can accommodate 112 passengers for a sit-down meal.

“We are really excited about the boat,” said Scoffield. “This is going to be a partnership to create a lot of business for everyone in town.”

Scoffield, Plewes and Cathy Tait, general manager of the Southern Georgian Bay Chamber of Commerce, made a deputation to Midland council on Dec. 9 requesting permission to dock the boat in Midland in 2021. []
