Farmers’ markets allowed to open but it’s not ‘business as usual’ in Midland area

The Southern Georgian Bay Farmers’ Markets in Midland and Victoria Harbour will be opening Victoria Day weekend, said president Steve Fosters. “Farmers’ markets have been added again to the list of essential businesses,” said Fosters.

New this year will be wash stations for the public and social distancing will be asked of all customers.

“More products will be prepackaged and we will be limiting customer contact with product on tables,” said Foster.

Vendors will be practising sanitization procedures and using gloves and other measures as necessary to keep the transaction a safe experience. The Midland market normally runs every Sunday in the Huronia Museum over the winter but is currently closed as the museum, and all other public buildings in town, have been shut down as a precaution to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
