Bacteria-killing ozone technology engineered by Franke Kindred staff at the company’s Midland manufacturing facility is currently being tested against the coronavirus.

Four years ago, a Midland commercial-product development team designed and developed the Medi-flo sink, which is equipped with several features to help with infection control. An off-centre drain and laminar flow tap help prevent splashing, while an ozone generator adds ozone to the water to kill bacteria.

“The growing problem of healthcare-acquired infections was the driving force behind Franke’s innovative Medi-flo, the world’s first and only hand hygiene sink with built-in laminar flow and ozone chamber,” said Angela Bird, a marketing and communication specialist with Franke Kindred.

The ozone is intended to kill any bacteria that is on your hands, as well as any bacteria in the sink or drain. The goal is to improve the results of handwashing, regardless of the technique used. []
