Grounded Coffee Co. is doing its part to cut down on the billions of single use coffee cups tossed into landfills every year.

The Midland café is participating in HuskeeSwap, an international cup-swapping program designed to promote the use of reusable coffee cups.

“Part of my job is to be aware of some of the great new things in the industry,” said owner Scott Campbell.

In October, Campbell discovered the HuskeeCup program and brought it to Midland. A HuskeeCup is a reusable coffee cup that is 50 per cent coffee husk — the organic waste material produced at the milling stage of coffee production. []
