February is our month for celebrating Winterama. We have an exciting weekend coming up as Penetanguishene presents the longest-running winter carnival in Ontario.

The warmth and welcoming hospitality of the 72nd Winterama is felt throughout our town. Former residents often come home to celebrate and participate in this long-standing winter tradition.

The event kicks off Friday, Feb. 14, at the Discovery Harbour Skate Trail, with a fireworks display at 8 p.m. There will also be live music, ice carvings, a wagon shuttle, snowshoeing, tubing, skating and much more. I invite everyone to come and experience our small-town Winterama hospitality.

On the morning of Saturday, Feb. 15, enjoy a pancake breakfast at the Wing House and then head up to our Main Street Art Unveiling at 89 Main St. Following the parade at 11 a.m., many activities are taking place, such as the Amazing Race, Polar Plunge, demolition derby, crokicurl, ice fishing and much more.[]
